Launch event
The HORIZONS launch event was held on Monday 20th June 2016 at the University of Southampton.
The event saw over 100 attendees visit the University of Southampton to hear more about the programme and how they can get involved as it develops.
There was a real buzz throughout the day from the Knowledge Café with patients and carers in the morning, discussions taking place during the networking lunch, and during the meeting with hospital sites keen to recruit patients into the HORIZONS study in the afternoon. Throughout the day, and in several communications since, ideas are being shared and new collaborations being formed to maximise the opportunities the new HORIZONS programme presents.
The day has provided the study team with some extremely useful points of action to explore and we received feedback from a number of attendees who found the event useful and thought provoking.
The HORIZONS Strategic Advisory Board (SAB) met for the first time on Thursday 6th October 2016 at the University of Southampton. They will meet on an annual basis.
Site update meetings
The sites selected for phase 2 of recruitment attended a one day meeting on Wednesday 2nd November 2016 in Southampton. The aim for the day was to review the site level HORIZONS processes and in particular to look at what we have learnt from the pilot phase; how the study fits in with the patient pathway, share ideas between site teams to explore the challenges and opportunities in incorporating HORIZONS into clinics and research portfolios.
Following the success of this site update meeting we held another meeting for the phase 3 sites in Southampton on the 18th May 2017. We received a large turnout which generated thought-provoking discussion and pragmatic approaches to the practicalities of the study design.
